For an hour on Saturday a Preston woman is going to walk the streets in memory of her grandmother.
Samantha Walkden lost her grandma Sandra Dodsworth to lung cancer two years ago at the age of 70.
The 23-year-old from Farringdon Park is now a Macmillan fundraising team in the North West and wants to raise £1,000 to help those going through a cancer battle.
Samantha, a mental healthcare worker, said: “Whilst my Grandma was fighting cancer, it was with the support of family, friends and Macmillan that we were able to be strong and ensure my Grandma never felt alone.
“However some people don’t have that support and Macmillan aim to be there to offer help, support, guidance and compassion.
“I am organising a memory walk, to raise money in memory of Grandma Sandra. The walk will be around the local area that Grandma lived and walk past her resting place.
The walk on Saturday (14 May) starts at Fishwick Hall golf club at 11am and lasts for an hour. A charity raffle is then being held at the golf club from 12noon to 3pm.
A Justgiving page set up by Samantha has raised nearly £200 so far.
