Far-right demonstrators are set to take to the streets of Preston city centre in February.
AdvertisementThe English Defence League has submitted an application to Lancashire Police to hold a demo on Saturday 20 February.
A poster for the event states: “The city that remove the nation’s flag to raise the flag of Palestine.”
This makes reference to a decision in July 2014 to fly the flag of Palestine over the Town Hall during the Middle East conflict.
The poster goes on to state Preston has “no go areas like Deepdale” and “take aways serving only halal”.

In 2010 a similar static protest saw around 1,500 EDL demonstrators turn out in Preston.
Preston anti-fascist groups are already planning a counter-protest with a Facebook event set up detailing where they will meet.
