Gale force winds battering Preston have caused damage to its iconic Bus Station.

Windows near Stands 28 and 29 at the grade II listed Bus Station have been blown in.

Glass is reportedly shattered across the waiting areas of the bus station and onto its apron.

A section of the bus station has been cordoned off from Sunday afternoon after the windows smashed.

Lancashire County Council is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building, after it was transferred to it from Preston City Council.

The Met Office has a weather warning for strong winds in Preston and Lancashire throughout Sunday evening.

A yellow weather warning is also in place for Monday and Tue of heavy rain in Preston and the surrounding areas.
