Facebook users took to the Preston Police page to share reactions to a tale which saw Police teams donate an old games console to a vulnerable teenager.

The post explains how Preston Neighbourhood Policing Team were working alongside Preston CID when an officer gave an old games console to a teenager said to be involved in some Anti-Social Behaviour.

The ‘act of kindness’ has been posted on Preston Police’s Facebook page, along with the hashtag Behind The Badge, which is designed to show local people an insight into the work done by the Police that often isn’t known about.

As well as the console, games and a library card have also been issued to the teenager. The end of the post reads, “Sometimes our job isn’t just enforcement, it’s about what we can to protect those who are vulnerable”.

Many people have expressed opinions on the post disagreeing with the action, saying there are other things that should be done to help a person’s wellbeing, while others are praising the actions of the Police.

With over 800 likes and over 300 comments, the reaction has sparked a debate in the social media world on how good this initial act of kindness really is.
