A former Newman College student has been tipped for stardom in the BBC’s prestigious Sound of 2015 list.
Rae Morris, who studied music and drama at the Preston sixth form college from 2010 to 2011, was named in the poll which is drawn up from music industry insiders hottest tips for the top in the coming year.
Rae, now 22, played some of her earliest gigs at Preston’s Mad Ferret pub.
The Blackpool girl signed to major label Atlantic after talent scouts saw her play a showcase at the Fylde Road pub and has since worked with Bombay Bicycle Club and Charlie Fink of Noah and the Whale.
Her debut album, Unguarded, is due to be released in January.
