The Birley – Aritsts studios and project space

The Birley,an artist-led studios and exhibition space based in Birley Street, Preston, will officially open its doors to graduates and local artists – alongside a programme of contemporary exhibitions, events and workshops in their project spaces. The Birley launch will be officially opened by Councillor Veronica Afrin on Thursday 18th September, 5.00 – 8.00pm.

The project was put together by four creative graduates from UCLan – all practising artists who have lived and worked in the area for many years. Steph Fletcher, Benedict Rutherford, Mat Birchall and Jane Bennett formed as a Community Interest Company – the POST POST – earlier in 2014 to help achieve shared aims of providing a supportive, engaging and creative hub in the city centre.
