A film is due to be shot in Preston in early June.

The Renata Road is being made by Beyond the Bar productions and is partly funded by film fans across the North West.

Egghead panellist CJ De Mooi has swapped the trivia for a role as the protagonist in the film.

Beth Norwood from Beyond The Bar said: “The Renata Road was shot entirely in the North West, with all crew from/connected to the North West, all cast the same and all props and locations.

“We wanted to create a film for the local area, involving the local area. We also raised a significant portion of our budget through crowdfunding on Kickstarter, gaining support from local Northerners.”

More than £10,000 was pledged through the website Kickstarter which helps fund local projects.

The filming takes place in various locations across Preston from Thursday 5 June to Monday 9 June.

You can watch a trailer for the film below.
