Football Intelligence Officers at Lancashire Constabulary have launched a special Twitter account to help better engagement with local football fans.
The Twitter page @PNEPolice is a new way to interact with Preston North End supporters offering match day advice such as traffic or rail problems, parking and even giving info on places to eat and drink that accept away supporters.
Paul Elliott, Football Intelligence Officer for Preston North End said: “Primarily the objective is to inform and interact with PNE supporters.
“As I attend most, if not all, of the games home and away the PNE supporters are used to seeing my face, particularly at away games as you tend to get a hard-core of supporters travelling. This way I can have a bit of banter with them and keep them updated with any issues.”
Paul is hoping to attract more PNE supporters as well as fans of other clubs in the league, who are travelling to all matches.
Recent tweets from officers commented on the latest match, a disappointing home defeat to visitors Crewe.
The Official Police account for the Preston North End Football Intel Unit currently has 695 followers.
