After doing a year of weekly photographs for BlogPreston I thought I’d look to do something a little bit different for 2013. My intention is to provide a downloadable desktop wallpaper each month with a calendar built in to the picture.

I normally create a desktop wallpaper calendar each month for myself and find it very useful, having the dates as a handy reference. The pictures can also become a bit of a talking point too, especially if you use them on your work computer.

The January image is probably one that is familiar to most Prestonians and certainly to the football fans out there. This is the Sir Tom Finney statue outside of Deepdale but with a bit of creative tweaking. The blur of the water has been achieved with a slow shutter speed and the kit colours with a bit of Photoshop trickery. I hope you like it and find it useful in January!

I may not be providing a weekly picture in 2013 but rest assured I will, in addition to my monthly wallpaper picture, be keeping my eye out for unusual or special images of Preston in the months ahead and will submit them for consideration on Blog Preston as I find them.

To download this image follow the link below and then right click on the image to download it. Once you’ve downloaded the picture, you should be able to open it and then right click again to select it as your desktop wallpaper.

I hope everyone has a great festive break and I will be back in January with my picture for February.

Best wishes
