Slideshow: Preston honours war dead on Remembrance Sunday

Posted on - 13th November, 2011 - 3:32pm | Author - | Posted in - Photos, Videos

The people of Preston and Lancashire gathered together this morning for a Remembrance Day service on the Flag Market.

Veterans, cadets and current serving members of the armed forces assembled for a procession and ceremony in the town centre to commemorate those who lost their lives fighting in the British army, navy and air force.

The event followed Friday’s event for Armistice Day where around 200 members of the public turned out for a two minute silence and shorter service. Preston’s post-1945 war dead have also been honoured in a roll of honour.

Below you can view photos from this morning in a short audio slideshow. I’ve also put together some video footage which will be on the site tomorrow.
