A kaleidoscopic one-creature show merging the circus with storytelling and spoken word.
Performance artist Naomi Wood presents a show where storytelling and poetry combine with aerial arts, circus and music to tell a story of rage and becoming.
Wood tells a personal story about the nature of creativity, identity and self-expression in the social media age. The performance also examines creativity and mental health issues and contains themes of queerness, identity and freedom.
Described as ‘laugh-out-loud funny and moving’, it is told through original spoken word and uses a freestanding aerial frame as the show explores the idea of ‘running away with the circus’.
In 2024, Gobbess has been performed at the Brighton Spiegeltent, Glastonbury Festival and Edinburgh Fringe.
This unique spoken-word show involves aerial hoop, acro-chair and burlesque dance.
