The Easter break is officially here, and with that comes A Minecraft Movie, the latest film to adapt a popular video game. The film stars Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Emma Myers on an unforgettable journey into the world of the game. For more mature moviegoers, Death of a Unicorn stars Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega alongside a star-studded supporting cast in a dark and twisted comedy film. And due to the half-term break, there are plenty of films suitable for the whole family to enjoy coming to screens around Preston.

The film features a beautiful stylistic animated style and is free from any human speech. Instead, it features a wide variety of real animal sounds. An engaging watch for the entire family to enjoy.
Restless
All Week
Restless is brand-new in cinemas from 4 April, though The Arc is the only local cinema to have it in their rotation. A dark comedy drama film from writer-director Jed Hart, in his feature directorial debut, the film shows a lot of promise. Having played at film festivals around the country and Europe, it has now made its way to limited theatres.

The popular playset for children that began trading in 1985 now comes to the big screen. The film perfectly captures the theme of the toys and delivers a happy family fairytale centred on anthropomorphised animals. This one is more focused on younger audiences, so keep that in mind going in.

It’s very likely that you have never heard of Ne Zha or the sequel, both of which were released primarily in China. However, Ne Zha 2 has managed to shake up the global box office as it has rocketed to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The film has reportedly earned almost $2 billion (£1.5 billion) which puts it firmly in the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time.

Continuing with this week’s offerings for younger audiences, Bing & Friends is a popular television series for toddlers and young children. This week, Vue will be putting on special screenings of Bing throughout the week, which means even more options to enjoy during the Easter break this week.

Muriel’s Wedding came out 30 years ago, and in order to mark the occasion, Vue is putting on a couple of screenings of the hit comedy drama film starring Toni Collette. It was a hit in Australia when it came out, but it has since made its way around the world and gathered a dedicated fanbase.

Recent years have seen a surge in film releases that take popular and now publicly available intellectual properties and making them into something very different. Blood and Honey reimagined Winnie the Pooh into a nightmare, and now Screamboat is doing the same with Steamboat Willie, the character that inspired Mickey Mouse. It’s dark, violent, and kind of corny, but if that is for you, Vue is the only place to see it this week.
John Wick

John Wick came out over a decade ago in 2014, and both Odeon and Vue are taking a look back at the story that redefined the action genre ahead of a new spin-off film in the franchise. Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, will be coming to theaters in June, but before that arrives, expect to see more of the franchise ahead of the spin-off.

Six The Musical is a comedy stage show that depicts a modern-day retelling of Henry the VIII tragic relationship with his six wives. The film sees each woman take their turn to recount their experience. All four cinemas will be screening the musical on Sunday and Tuesday, although The Flower Bowl is currently sold out.
The Royal Ballet & Opera: Puccini’s Turandot

For fans of the opera, this classic show from Puccini returns to Vue exclusively this week. Turandot follows the story of a princess who sets up a series of trials for potential suitors to face in order to have a chance of marrying her. However, if they fail, the penalty is death.

The Arc Cinema is bringing back the Oscar-nominated musical biopic depicting a young Bob Dylan. Timothée Chalamet stars as Dylan, alongside Edward Norton as his friend and mentor, Pete Seeger. The film has been praised widely for its accuracy, beautiful music, and ability to recount the life of a complex man in relative simplicity. It will also be featured as the Silver Screen pick for Thursday at The Arc.
The Chosen: Last Supper Part 1

The Chosen is an American television series depicting the life of Jesus Christ. The Chosen: Last Supper depicts the fifth season of the show, and Part 1 includes the first and second episodes of this season. At present, there are no plans to put Part 2 and Part 3, which contain the rest of the season five episodes, on the big screen, but Part 1 is set to kick off the season on the big screen as an event screening. The story of Part 1 is primarily concerned with Jesus entering Jerusalem and seeing the temple in disarray as a market.
