Preston venue Chew’s Yard is set to celebrate its first birthday with a series of free events over the early May bank holiday weekend.
The Market Street West food and drink hall and events space will kick off proceedings on Thursday 1 May with the Proper PNE Quiz hosted by Rory from Preston Pulse.
On Friday 2 May, Lancaster’s 25-strong female drumming group Samba Espirito will bring carnival vibes to the street when they set off from Chain House Brewing Co. and Taproom at 7pm before making their way to Chew’s Yard.
Bilal Dione, Chew’s Yard’s Operations Manager, said: “Bring the whole family and your friends along to watch this exciting, colourful and lively performance.
“And why not join us earlier for delicious food and drink from our five amazing independent traders? We will be open from midday.”
The Friday night party will continue with Saraban Acoustic playing live from 8.30pm.

Sunday 4 May will see DJs Mark Freejack and Brian Hudson going head-to-head, spinning downtempo, chillout tracks from 4pm until 6pm, when they’ll ramp up the tempo blending old school classics with nu disco dancefloor cuts.
Bringing the celebrations to a close will be Jonny Haig, playing an acoustic set on Bank Holiday Monday.
