A woman from Preston is organising a family event in Longton this Easter to raise money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Linda Sanders, owner of the town’s Orchid Cafe Bar, and her staff are organising a 5k run or walk on Easter Sunday (20 April) – with the Easter Bunny himself.
Linda, a longstanding supporter of the Foundation, is hoping people will join them, setting off from Liverpool Road at 11am.

She said: “Longton runners John Wiseman and his daughter Sophie are helping us organise the family event and have devised a three-mile circular route for a fundraising run/walk that’s suitable for everyone – children, prams and dogs!
“There’ll be free tea and coffee for all adults and cordial for children when they get back. All children will receive a free Easter Egg courtesy of Kevin Hunt from our local Spar and there’ll also be children’s prizes for fancy dress and Easter bonnets.”
Linda and the team are also going to transform the car park into a mini showground, with attractions such as a bird of prey display, a fire engine and more.

A raffle will be held to support the event too. Top prizes have all been donated by local businesses, including a £200 voucher for Much Hoole’s Nellie the Elephant Indian Restaurant.
To enter the fun run or walk you can book via the Orchid Cafe Bar or turn up on the day from 10:30. Entry is £10 per person or £15 per family.
The funds will go towards cancer treatments and services for patients from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.
