In pictures: Preston Health Mela – two decades of helping the city become healthier

A day of blood pressure checks and plenty more health tests helped thousands of Prestonians feel healthier.

Last week, the University of Central Lancashire hosted the twentieth Health Mela event in the city.

The event consisted of free MOT health checks, including diabetes screening, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol level tests, as well as Reiki and Bollywood dancing.

One of the guest speakers Professor Amit Sinha said: “The beaming smile and sparkle on everyone’s face was enough to convey the message that it was all worth it.

“It’s been a super event reaching out to the core of the community of all ages. It is inspiring to know that there were almost 1700 members of the community who attended the mela.”
