Preston City Council has confirmed eviction proceedings are in motion against a group of travellers on Ashton Park.
One of the city’s parks has seen caravans park up on the on the park between Blackpool Road and Pedders Lane in Ashton-on-Ribble following the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Nearby residents have raised concerns about the amount of waste being left on the park and fires reportedly being started.

A spokesperson for the city council said: “We are aware of the travelling community’s presence on Ashton and Waverley Park and have taking action to ensure they are evicted off site as soon as possible.
“Once left, our parks team will clean the site thoroughly.”
City councillor Nweeda Khan, who is also standing in the upcoming Lancashire County Council elections, took to Facebook to say ‘damage to trees and grass’ had been caused. She said she hoped to see the caravans removed as soon as possible.
