Lancashire Police has appointed a new divisional commander for the South Division.
Chief Superintendent Ian Jones will operate under Lancashire Constabulary’s South Division, covering Chorley, Preston, South Ribble, Ormskirk and Skelmersdale.
He took on the role last month after Stasia Osiowy left to become an Assistant Chief Constable.

He said: “Being a resident of South Lancashire, I am immensely proud to be taking on this new role as Divisional Commander.
“Having previously worked in South Lancashire, I have a sound understanding of the areas and the communities that we serve, and I want to work closely with those communities to tackle the issues that matter most to them.
“I am passionate about delivering the best service that we can for those who need us and myself, and each of the officers in my team, are more than prepared to step up and face challenges that are presented to us. Together, we are committed to reducing crime and keeping South Lancashire a safe place for those to live, work and visit.”
Mr Jones joined the force at just 18 years old, working in various roles across Merseyside.
He has worked as a dog handler, Custody Sergeant and Neighbourhood Inspector where he implemented several teams tackling organised crime groups, cuckooing and county lines.
He transferred to Lancashire Constabulary in September 2018 as Chief Inspector for West Lancashire and later as a Force Incident Commander.
Chief Supt Jones then joined Greater Manchester Police in 2022, taking on the role of Superintendent for Manchester City Centre and later as a temporary Chief Superintendent and District Commander in Wigan and Bolton.
