Members of Myerscough College’s farming team had the honour of meeting King Charles at Buckingham palace.

The King, who is the founding patron of The Royal Countryside Fund, hosted the event to celebrate the charity’s 15th anniversary.

And the vital support Myerscough offers farmers across Lancashire and beyond was celebrated at the special Royal reception, which was attended by representatives from farm support groups from across the UK.

For Myerscough College, the event was attended by Andrea Gardner, Myerscough’s Farms Director and Farmer Network Lead, and Victoria Bracken, Farmer Network Facilitator.

Like others across the UK, Myerscough’s Farmer Network helps agriculture professionals navigate the challenges they face in the sector, through practical guidance on business, farm administration, managing the consequences of climate change and succession planning, and also in addressing well-being needs.

The Royal Countryside Fund has provided funding for many of these groups since it was founded. Last year, it awarded £250,000 in grants which enabled farm support groups to reach a further 7,425 farming families.

Keith Halstead, executive director of The Royal Countryside Fund, said: “Together, through mutual support and collaboration, we are doing all we can to ensure the future of our farming families on whose back rests the economic vitality and beauty of rural Britain.”
