The northbound carriageway has one lane closed as a result of the crash.
National Highways North West said delays are expected and Traffic England is already showing traffic backed up to the Garstang junction all the way from Broughton as Friday rush hour begins.
Eyewitnesses report multiple vehicles are involved in the crash shortly after 3pm on Friday.
A police spokesperson said there was a ‘minor injury collision between three vehicles’.
The A6 through Garstang and surrounding routes is expected to be busier than usual as traffic diverts off the motorway.
