Better leisure centres in Preston are inviting the community to participate Swim22, a 12-week challenge in support of the leading health charity, Diabetes UK.
Fulwood Leisure Centre, and West View Leisure Centre, are amongst many centres that are challenging participants to swim 22 miles, the length of the English Channel, within 12 weeks.
Designed not only to encourage people to use exercise to boost their mental and physical health, the task also aims to raise funds for Diabetes UK’s vital research to help those in need.

To support the participants, Better Health centres are offering a free four-month Better Flex membership, free training events and tips and advice.
The challenge is taking place between 22 March and 22 June 2025 and can be achieved in either an open water or enclosed pool aiming to help the 12 million people in the UK with diabetes or prediabetes.
Commenting on the campaign Michael Manley, GLL partnership manager for Preston said: “Not only do we support the important research work that Diabetes UK undertakes, but we also want to encourage those living in our local communities to use our facilities to help improve their health and wellbeing.”
