Seven properties across Preston and South Ribble were raided by police in drugs raids linked to cannabis farms.

Police say they seized more than 1,300 cannabis plants during the raids which took place in Deepdale, Ashton-on-Ribble, Ribbleton and Plungington as well as in Lostock Hall.

The raids took place in the week beginning 17 February and also saw large quantities of cash and mobile phones seized.

Properties in Lovat Road, Parker Street, Rose Lane, Shelley Road, Ribbleton Lane and Roebuck Street were all targeted in Preston – as well as Lindley Street in Lostock Hall.

Five people have since been charged – under what’s known as Operation Milne – with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity illegally.

Klajdi Elezaj, 24, of no fixed address, charged with production of cannabis.

Olsi Cela, 29, of no fixed address, charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

Dhaorjan Murtja, 21, of Lindley Steet, Lostock Hall charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

Pham Hong Sang, 44, of no fixed address charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

Loc Huw Nguyen, 27 of no fixed address charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

Detective Inspector Steve Monk said: “This is just a snapshot of the work that is carried out every day as we remain committed to tackling this sort of activity.

“Organised crime is heavily connected to violence, exploitation and anti-social behaviour. It fuels other criminal activity, including county lines and other drug trafficking, modern slavery, human trafficking and child sexual exploitation.

“Commercial cannabis grows often cause damage to properties which are taken over for that purpose; the buildings can become dangerous as a result of fire risks, unlawful abstraction of electricity, fumes and water damage. The message is clear: It’s not welcome here.”

Anyone with information or who is concerned about drug dealing or activity where they live can report it to police on 101.
