A man repeatedly stabbed in a savage knife attack said he lost his home and job and now fears his attacker will not spend long enough locked up.
Jack Sanderson was jailed last month for an attack in West Cliff near the entrance to Avenham and Miller Park which left his victim with deep wounds on his arms and chest. He initially pleaded not guilty but finally admitted a charge of wounding after a trial had begun at Preston Crown Court.
He was also convicted of possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cocaine when he received a four-and-a-half year prison sentence.

Sanderson, of Charlesway Court, Lea Road, Lea, had previously been spared jail after stabbing another man in the head outside Popworld on Church Street in 2020. On the occasion, he was only given a suspended sentence because the judge factored in an almost one year delay between his arrest and charge. Had it been dealt with more efficiently, the judge said he would have been sent straight to jail.
His latest victim, who Blog Preston has chosen not to name, said he befriended Sanderson when they both drank in the Continental pub. On May 16, Sanderson, who was 31 at the time, had been particularly drunk and became confrontational.
The following morning, the victim expected Sanderson to have calmed down but he instead came to his home and continued in the same manner. When the incident first turned physical in East Cliff, he did not realise Sanderson had brought a knife but soon noticed blood “pouring from his chest”.
The man also suffered wounds on the front and back of his left arm but managed to get away. Sanderson was arrested at the scene.
Speaking to Blog Preston, the man said he was unable to return to his home with his young son on police advice and was also unable to work for months afterwards as a result of his injuries.
This caused him to lose his business and resulted in him suffering from depression.
He said: “I’ve come out of it better in a weird way. It’s a massive wake up call with who I associate with.”
While the injuries have recovered enough for him to use his arm again, he remains heavily scarred on his chest and arm. He has since left Preston to live elsewhere in Lancashire and fears that Sanderson will strike again once released from prison and wanted to speak about the incident to warn others.
“What happens when he gets out? I don’t want it to happen again to someone else.
“I’ve gone through it so many times in my head and how does someone go from [calm] to doing that? The fact he’s driven to my house and had the knife over nothing, it’s just crazy.”
