A Preston-based charitable enterprise has opened a new opportunity for local aspiring athletes.
GLL, a charitable social enterprise, operating Better leisure centres in Fulwood and Ribbleton, has announced the opening of its GLL Sport Foundation (GSF) Awards 2025.
The GSF awards provide a range of support including free gym memberships, physiotherapy and advice on mental health and wellbeing.

The last three years have awarded 69 Preston athletes with the programme opportunity.
In addition, £1.4 million in bursaries and free gym memberships are set to be made available to communities in 2025.
This may improve 54% of those surveyed citing a lack of funding being a huge barrier to young people when taking part in competitive sports.

George Kneen-Cookson, GLL Community Sport Manager, said: “This programme provides us with the perfect platform to nurture a new wave of local sporting heroes.
“We are committed to continuing to support athletes to achieve their goals and aspirations, widening and deepening the opportunities for local communities through sport.
