Over £60,000 has been raised in support of a man from Bamber Bridge involved in a life-changing accident abroad.

James Ainscough suffered what his family have described as a ‘tragic and freak accident’ in Dubai which has left him in need of emergency surgery.

The fundraiser posted by his family said: “Along with the emotional toll, the financial burden of medical expenses, time away from work, and ongoing care is adding immense stress to his family.

“Our goal is to ease this increasing financial pressure so they can focus entirely on what matters most— James’s healing and recovery.”

James, who attended St Saviour’s Primary School and Brownedge St Mary’s High in Bamber Bridge, is a father to a four-month old girl, and is working as a teacher in Dubai.

A message posted by James’s partner Hazel said: “Thank you for all of your incredible donations so far, we are so overwhelmed by the response we have had in such a short period and feel so proud of the community we are a part of.

“We can’t quite put in to words how much it means to us all.”

A spokesperson for Walton-le-Dale Junior Football Club said: “A popular figure both within WLDJFC and the wider Walton-le-Dale community, we were devastated to hear that a recent accident has left him with significant injuries and facing huge medical bills.”

A fundraising event is being held on Sunday, 16 February at Bamber Bridge Football Club from 2pm where 100% of all donations will go to James and his family.
