In pictures: Preston Bus Station as it ranks as one of world’s Brutalist favourites

Preston’s iconic Bus Station was back in the headlines this week after being ranked as one of the world’s favourite Brutalist buildings.

Opened in 1969 the grade-II listed building has scores of architecture fans.

In celebration of the Bus Station being included in The Guardian’s favourite Brutalist buildings of the world list – alongside others from Geneva, Berlin, London and beyond.

Once the largest Bus Station in Europe it’s been catching the eye of Preston photographer Joseph Gudgeon.

Joe said: “I am constantly drawn to Preston Bus Station. I never tire of capturing this brutal behemoth in all of its curvaceous splendour. It was futuristic looking when it first opened in 1969 and it still feels like the future today.”

He’s put together some of his favourite pictures of the Bus Station and its curved car park above.

Your beauty is brutal,
