A Preston crossroads which has become an accident blackspot now has new stop signs and markings.

Broughton crossroads saw the road layout changed when the new James Towers Way (Broughton Bypass) was completed in 2017.

Since then dozens upon dozens of crashes have taken place at the Garstang Road and Whittingham Lane crossroads, which was previously a ‘give way’ junction.

Following sustained pressure by Broughton Parish Council pleas for a stop sign to be added were finally heeded by Lancashire County Council’s highways chiefs.

The new signage is in place but it remains to be seen whether it will prove effective in stopping continued crashes.
