Preston is set for an unforgettable evening of dark, decadently queer cabaret-theatre as Liverpool’s unrivalled art-house witch and drag shapeshifter Pretentious Dross takes centre stage at The Ferret.
Dross is a Liverpool-based drag artist known for her unique blend of cabaret, theatre, and queer storytelling, having honed her craft on the UK cabaret circuit.
An Evening with Dross is described as combining dazzling spectacle with raw vulnerability, as Dross guides audiences on a transformative journey through biography and fantasy, exploring the stories we tell ourselves and the dreams that shape the world around us.
At the heart of the show lies a simple yet profound question: What might happen when we dare to dream of a more magical world?
This multimedia performance weaves together film, animation and music to create a unique theatrical experience.
Dross delivers a mesmerising blend of wit, emotion, and theatrical flair described as ‘beautiful, smart, and hilarious in waves’.
The film and animation projection in the performance has been created by Laura Spark, creating an immersive visual tapestry.
The show – with tickets at just £6 – takes place at Preston’s cult music venue The Ferret on Wednesday 12 February from 8pm.
The cheap tickets offer is part of the extended subsidised theatre programme by Lancashire Fringe Festival, which aims to encourage new audiences to come and see live theatre.

Lancashire Fringe Festival’s Garry Cook said: “This is another unique opportunity for Preston audiences to see something very special.
“I first saw Dross perform a work in progress in Huddersfield almost a decade ago. The show was incredibly intense and clever.
“I’ve followed Dross’ development since then and it’s through that early connection that I’ve been able to get the show to Preston. I’m absolutely thrilled that something so totally unique is coming to the city.”
An Evening with Dross tickets are available from Skiddle.
