New canal side homes finished by Community Gateway Association in Ashton-on-Ribble

Community Gateway Association is celebrating building its 1,000th affordable new home in Preston.

The development which saw the 1,000th home, has 12 houses with affordable rent.

Located in Tulketh Brow the development is known as Canal Side View.

Sir Mark Hendrick, MP for Preston and Phil Parramore, Community Gateway Association’s Chair of the Board celebrated the achievement with a ribbon-cutting event.

Sir Mark said: “This is a remarkable accomplishment, providing much-needed affordable homes and making a real difference in our community. 

“This milestone reflects Gateway’s unwavering dedication to enhancing housing availability and quality for the people of Preston.”

Stephen and Gillian, the tenants moving into the 1,000th home added: “We are thrilled and excited to receive the keys for our new forever home and are looking forward to a fresh start in CGA’s 1,000th new build home!”

The 1,000 homes developed by the association have seen over 3,700 people. As a social housing provider, they say they put tenants at the heart of everything they do.

Since its formation in 2005, Community Gateway Association has invested £208m in new homes – with £1m being from Preston City Council.

Rob Wakefield, Chief Executive said: “We are proud to reach this milestone of delivering 1,000 high-quality, affordable homes.

“This achievement is a testament to our commitment to building homes that are not only safe and sustainable but also transformative for the communities they serve. 

“From our first development at Patterdale Close in Fishwick to the completion of Canal Side View, we have always prioritised quality and the needs of our tenants. This journey has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of teams from across the organisation, our partners, and stakeholders. 

“Together, we’re shaping a brighter future for Preston and beyond.”

In 2025, the Community Gateway Association has a range of developments planned. 

They include eight bungalows on Lambert Road, 90 apartments for older people 33 homes for affordable rent and 35 all-electric homes on Tom Benson Way.
