A man has been charged with rape after a woman was repeatedly attacked in Preston.
Police were called to Meadow Street shortly after midnight last Wednesday (January 8) to a report a woman had been raped and assaulted.
A public appeal was launched and officers made an arrest earlier this week. Lancashire Police said Ionica Rujea, of New Hall Lane, has been charged with rape, assault and false imprisonment.

The 41-year-old is due to appear at Preston Magistrates Court today.
A police spokesperson said: “We are grateful to everyone who helped by coming forward with information following our appeal.
“Anyone with information about the incident should call us on 101 quoting log 0020 of January 8th, 2025.
“Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
