A pedestrian was killed in an M6 crash which involved a car and two lorries.
The crash took place just after 3pm yesterday (Sunday January 12) and police have now launched an appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage. As reported by Blog Preston, the incident tragically led to the loss of one life and Lancashire Constabulary has confirmed a man in his 30s died.
According to the force, he was pronounced dead at the scene and his family are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.
Emergency services were called to the incident on the northbound carriageway between Junction 27 (Standish) and Junction 28 (Leyland) and the road remained close until midnight as investigations continued. The southbound stretch was also briefly closed to allow an air ambulance to land.
Sergeant Laura Kendall, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has very sadly lost his life following this collision, and first and foremost, our thoughts are with his loved ones at this very upsetting time.
“The motorway was closed for quite a significant amount of time, and I would like to thank those who waited patiently as our officers carried out their enquiries.
“We know the motorway network will have been busy at that time, so if you witnessed the incident, or if you have dashcam footage between J27 and J28, between 2:45pm and 3:05pm, please do get in touch with us.”
Anyone with footage or information can contact the force on 101 quoting log 0638 of January 12 or by emailing the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@lancashire.police.uk
