The scheme will see the greenfield site developed.

A plan for 195 homes at at Lower Bartle has been taken on by a new developer, it has emerged.

Blog Preston reported how the application by Hollins Homes, which has been rumbling on for four years and will go before Preston City Council’s planning committee on 9 January, had been potentially greenlit for development by Preston City Council’s director of development and housing.

However, we were then contacted by a Blog Preston reader who suggested two Hollins Homes sites in Garstang and Galgate were on hold due to the firm being in administration.

We now understand that Gleeson has acquired phase one of the project and wants to change the nature of the housing mix within that scheme in order to offer more starter homes at the development.

The general layout of the entire scheme will remain largely unchanged, said planning officers, with access, play area, pump station and other elements unaltered.

Permission is being sought by Gleeson to change a consented first phase at land south of Bartle Lane from 55 homes to 80, with more emphasis on entry level homes.

Preston City Council will consider the proposals from Gleeson Homes and advisor PWA Planning on 9 January.

Hollins Homes, which is in administration, secured a hybrid consent in November 2022, covering outline consent for up to 195 homes and detailed approval for 55 homes at the Bartle site.
