A former garage used by the Booths supermarket in the heart of Preston is on the market.

Known as ‘Booths garage’ the building in Glovers Court dates back to the 1930s.

With Art Deco fixtures and fittings the quirky building has a u-shaped floorplan with a separate entry and exit electric roller shutter doors.

It was last used as an indoor city centre car park and had space for around 12 to 15 vehicles.

The three-storey building was used to store and service the Booths fleet of vehicles when the supermarket chain was based in the city centre.

Signs of the grocery heritage are throughout the building including a wrought iron “B&Co” monogram over the entrance.

Joint agent Charles Bell, of Preston-based Morgan Martin, says: “This is a rare opportunity to purchase a property that’s more or less ‘as built’ and retains original features the market looks for.

“With no alterations it could be used by a city centre company as a car park; a secure home for a classic car collection or conversion into a number of uses from residential to offices or hospitality.

“One recent visitor, a film executive based in the North West, even said it would make an amazing film and TV studio.”

The building was previously used by Winckley Square accountancy firm MHA as a staff park and file storage space.

The 5,300 square foot building, with a cellar, is on the market for £300,000.
