The Name of the Dame is coming to The Ferret

The Name of The Dame will kick off The Ferret’s 2025 theatre programme.

The hour-long show is a fast-paced, comedy two-hander, written and performed by comedians Kate McCabe and Adam Perrott.

Influenced by the likes of satirical masterpieces Airplane and Police Squad, The Name of the Dame is said to be in the film noir genre with “a gag-rate that fires faster than a Tommy Gun”.

Tickets for the show, which was a big hit at Edinburgh Fringe festival, are only £6. The low cost is part of the subsidised theatre programme by Lancashire Fringe Festival, which aims to encourage new audiences to try live theatre.

Other shows coming to The Ferret include outrageous cabaret drag theatre show, An Evening with Dross, and spoken word performers Rose Condo with How to Starve an Artist and BBC Radio 4 regular Kate Fox with a show based on her book, Bigger on the Inside.

This first batch of shows will take place around once a month, and further shows will be announced.

Lancashire Fringe Festival creator Garry Cook said: “Lancashire Fringe Festival back in October was hugely successful, with its aim to bring live performances to Preston audiences at a time when live theatre opportunities are very limited.

“The 15 consecutive nights at Fringe Festival were all free – helping bring in a record number of people to see the shows. Several shows were sold out and standing room only.”

Garry added: “To continue that audience engagement, the Festival is subsiding ticket prices for the best part of the rest of the year to make it affordable for people to keep coming to see live shows.

“These £6 a ticket shows are the cheapest ticket prices in the UK for the shows which are being performed. Some of the shows will cost almost £30 to see in other cities in the UK.

“The Name of the Dame fits perfectly with the aims of Lancashire Fringe Festival. It’s a hugely entertaining, funny show that will give audiences an experience they will love.”

The subsidised shows are funded by Arts Council England.

The Name of the Dame is on at The Ferret in Fylde Road on Wednesday 8 January, and tickets are available from Skiddle.
