Persistent fly-tipping in a Ribbleton street is leading to missed bin collections.

Preston City Council says waste being ‘continually dumped’ in Dodgson Road has disrupted the waste collection rounds.

Items of furniture are seen blocking access to alleyways to be able to pick up black bins during the Thursday collections.

The road runs between Skeffington Road and West View.

A city council spokesperson said: “Our waste crews were not able to complete yesterday’s scheduled bin collection for part of Dodgson Road, as it was obstructed by various items of furniture and waste.

“Waste is continually dumped in this location blocking access to the alley.

“It is unfortunate that the acts of a few inconsiderate individuals affect others.

“Neither Waste Management or Clean Environment have the available resources today to clear the waste, but will endeavour to attend as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The city council is reminding people they offer a ‘bulky waste collection’ for the removal of household furniture and other large items – however there is a charge.
