A community group for pensioners which is based in Preston celebrated its 50th anniversary last month.

Preston Probus Club held a special music concert for over 60 members and guests at Our Lady and St Edward Parish Centre in Fulwood.

The event featured an organ recital by a club member and semi-professional musician Peter Wild. He then performed a selection of tunes from his recent concert at Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom.

The audience, including the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Phil Crowe, were also treated to a programme of music from West End shows and Hollywood films.

John Hally, Preston Probus Club President said: “To reach such a significant milestone in the Club’s history is a great achievement and thanks must go to the volunteers who run the club and our members from the wider Preston area who continue to support it.

“It was a privilege to have the Mayor as our guest of honour. He acknowledged the part that community groups like Preston Probus Club play in the life of the city and that gives us great encouragement for the future”
