Preston’s fire spectacle event is due to go ahead as winds from Storm Darragh subside.

The fire garden in Avenham and Miller Park was cancelled on Saturday due to the strong winds and heavy rain.

But Preston City Council said they would be pressing on with Sunday’s free show.

Anyone who booked for the Saturday can use their pre-booked tickets to attend on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the city council said: “We’re delighted to confirm that the Fire Garden event will proceed as planned this evening at Avenham and Miller Parks. Please note that adjustments have been made to accommodate guests originally scheduled for Saturday.”

Sunday’s event will include a performance from the Singspiration choir.

The Fire Garden is free to attend and people are urged to book via Eventbrite from 5pm with slots every 15-minutes.
