A warning of intense rainfall has been made covering Preston and Lancashire.
The Met Office has put the warning in force – a yellow weather warning – for a four-hour burst of rain during Thursday (5 December) afternoon.
A warning of strong winds was already in force and remains throughout Thursday afternoon into the early hours of Friday morning. Gusts of up to 50mph-60mph are expected.

But now weather forecasters are warning of a disruptive hammering of rain between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday.
Forecasters are warning it carries the risk of flooding and travel disruption.
A statement from the Met Office said: “A spell of heavy rain is likely during Thursday afternoon, clearing to the east through the early evening. 20 to 30 mm is likely to fall in just a few hours, bringing a risk of some surface water flooding and disruption to travel. The rain is also likely to be accompanied by gusty, perhaps briefly squally, winds.”
Further weather warnings are in force for the weekend as the tail end of Storm Darragh, due to hit Ireland in the coming days, makes its presence felt along the North West coastline of England.
