Carols, concerts and Christmas cheer galore for Preston Orpheus Choir this festive season

Preston Orpheus Choir is enjoying a busy festive period this year.

On Saturday (30 November) choir members were singing carols and spreading Christmas cheer at Morrisons in Riversway.

This coming Saturday (7 December) it’s the choir’s big Christmas concert with good friends, Freckleton Brass Band. The concert will feature Christmas music old and new, with plenty of opportunities for audience participation

Taking place from 7pm at St Michael and All Angels Church in Ashton-on-Ribble, tickets cost £14 for adults, £5 for under 18s, or £35 for a family.

The following Thursday (12 December), the choir joins Preston Cecilian Choral Society for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation Christmas concert at The Parish Church of St John Baptist in Broughton.

A family friendly event, tickets are priced at £6 with under 12s welcome to attend for free.

Finally, on Saturday 14 December, the choir will be singing carols at Rufford Old Hall.

Choir member Mick Gardner told Blog Preston: “Phew – we’ll need a Christmas break after all that!”

Mick also explained how unusual the image of the choir above is.

He said: “This photo is a rare one in that not only can you see on the far left our Music Director Dan Adams – he’s usually conducting and so facing us – but you can also see, next to him, our amazing accompanist Paul Greenhalgh – he’s usually working his magic on a piano.

“We’re so lucky to have two such talented musicians to help us produce some amazing sounds.”
