BAE Systems recruiting for 699 new jobs across Samlesbury, Preston and Warton

Hundreds of jobs are being created across BAE’s Warton and Samlesbury bases.

The aircraft manufacturing division is seeing new apprentice, undergraduate and graduate roles created.

A total of 699 jobs are being created across the Preston area sites by BAE Systems in its air division.

At Warton and Samlesbury there’s 260 apprentice roles, 74 undergraduate jobs and 317 graduate roles.

As well as an apprentice at the Preston head office and 47 roles across all levels at the shared services team at Preston too.

It comes as BAE Systems says it will pump £230million into education and skills next year and is recruiting 1,500 roles in total across the UK.

Catilin, 20, from Preston, is in the third year of her aerospace apprenticeship with BAE.

She said: “I grew up in Preston and was always aware of BAE Systems. I knew a lot of people who worked there. I’d often see Typhoons go over my house too.

“I became interested in Aerospace engineering once I’d seen the roadshow in Year 7. In Year 9 I knew I wanted to work at BAE Systems after I won a Future Engineer Award which was sponsored by the company. The trophy was a little Typhoon model; it really inspired me.

“I think the highlight for me is working with another apprentice during our next-gen training
placement to develop training for apprentices to improve their experience. It’s been a really
successful project and we’ve had a great time briefing senior people in the business on it.

“I’m going to be moving into a permanent role in test and evaluation simulation. I like having the opportunity to work across multiple platforms and the simulations are used for a variety of things such as training our own test pilots. Every day is different but it’s always fun work and I always feel a sense of fulfilment.”
