An award-winning South Korean actor and producer is heading to Preston for a free cultural event.

Television, film, and variety show performer Soo-ro Kim is coming to the University of Central Lancashire on Wednesday 11 December to discuss Korean popular culture and performing arts.

The actor, who is known for his warm and affable personality, is a beloved figure in South Korean entertainment.

He has appeared in 40 films and will use his expertise to comment on how popular the country’s culture has become around the globe and the impact Korean music has had on the industry.

The talk, which is part of The International Institute of Korean Studies-Sejong Korea Film Day, will run from 3.30pm to 4.40pm and take place in the Mitchell and Kenyon Cinema in Corporation Street.

Dr Sojin Lim, Reader in Asia Pacific Studies, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be welcoming such a famous South Korean entertainer as Soo-ro Kim to the University.

“Korean culture is taking the world by storm so his insight into the entertainment industry will be fascinating.”

Following Soo-ro’s talk, a screening of the 2006 film Vampire Cop Ricky will follow at 4.50pm.

No registration is required for this event and entry is free.
