Dedication to nature was rewarded at the North West in Bloom (NWIB) Awards, with organisations from Wrea Green and Chipping flying the flag for Lancashire.
Blackburns Farm Nurseries and Wildlife Centre, alongside Wrea Green Remembrance Wood, was awarded the NWIB award for Gardening for Wildlife and Biodiversity at the recent ceremony.
And for Chipping in Bloom, it was double success as it was awarded gold in the NWIB awards and also voted overall ‘Best Village’ for 2024.

As Blog Preston reported in October, members of Chipping in Bloom had previously celebrated after the village was a gold award winner for the North West at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom Awards.
For Blackburns Farm, the award was recognition for the hard work of its volunteers.
A spokesman said: “[We are] a local charity with a mission rooted in education and research on nature-based prescribing.
“We believe in empowering individuals to improve their health and well-being by reconnecting with nature, and we’re dedicated to creating accessible green spaces for the community.
“[The NWIB award was] testament to our commitment to conserving and enhancing local ecosystems. Additionally, we were recognised with a Level 5 Outstanding Award, an incredible achievement that highlights the hard work and passion of our team and volunteers.
“This recognition fuels our mission to continue developing spaces that nurture biodiversity and support community well-being. Our team and dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to create environments that inspire and invite everyone to experience the benefits of nature.”
