A community centre on Deepdale Road has a big dream to bring people of all walks of life together.
Catherine Becketts Community Centre is looking for funding to be able to renovate the space into something for everyone.
At the moment, the centre is in need of urgent repairs as some areas are ‘not fit for purpose’.

Bilal Bham, the community centre’s chair has a passion for bringing the building back to life.
He explained: “I used to do martial arts in the centre as a kid and it was like coming to school, I loved it.
“It needs to be put back to the way it was.
“There’s nothing else like this in the area. We want to make it a community hub where people of all ages, cultures and languages can come together. It’s going to be something for everyone.
“It’s run down and doesn’t get as much use now. It’s a big space and we’re on the way to turn it around, all thanks to the committee. We just need some more funding.”

Bilal added: “We need to redevelop the area and make it more welcoming. We’re looking for some more support and volunteers from all backgrounds.”
With his passion for the centre shining through, Bilal and his team have huge plans for the future.
They aim to completely renovate the space into something more modern, holding more events and providing a safe space for children who may be instead out on the streets.
One of their plans is to build a community cafe, so the centre can be self-sufficient.
