Major roadworks are due to shut a road close to a busy Fulwood junction during the daytime for eight days.

Lancashire County Council is carrying out resurfacing works on Sir Tom Finney Way.

The road is due to be closed between 9.30am and 2.30pm each day between Wednesday (20 November) and Thursday 28 November.

The county council’s roadworks site states it will be shut from the junction with Sainsbury’s, at Flintoff Way, up to the traffic lights at Watling Street Road.

Access to Sainsbury’s from the Blackpool Road side is due to be maintained while the closure is in place.

Director of highways and transport at the county council, Matt Townsend, said: “Work is being carried out to repair drains and to allow for a full resurfacing of Sir Tom Finney Way up to the junction with Watling Street Road.”

The work had been originally listed as taking place over the Christmas holiday period – but this was incorrect on the county council’s roadworks listings.

Preston Bus says it will be diverting its 6, 19 and 20 services during the roadworks.

They will turn left onto Blackpool Road, right onto Garstang Road, right to Watling Street Road and then back onto their normal route.
