A section of the Guild Wheel will be closed for emergency repairs next week.

The section at the docks between Wallend Road and Lockside Road will be closed from Monday (18 November) to Friday (22 November) due to tree roots breaking through the surface of the path.

The wooded section of the Guild Wheel will be closed with users asked to use an alternative route via Lockside Road and Chain Caul Way.

Signage is in place.

A spokesperson for Preston City Council said: “Shallow tree roots have broken through the surface of the path within the wooded area between Wallend Road and Lockside Road, in a number of places requiring localised repairs to be undertaken.

“These works will require this section of the Guild Wheel through the wooded area to be closed to all users, whilst the repairs are undertaken for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and those carrying out the work.

“In order to maintain the integrity of the Guild Wheel route, users are asked to follow the alternative route to by-pass the riverside section of path via Lockside Road and Chain Caul Way.

“Signage will be placed on site advising of the closure and temporary warning signs will be installed on Chain Caul Way advising vehicle drivers of an increased presence of cyclists during the works.”
