Riversway re-opens between Edith Rigby Way and Preston Docks

A road leading to Preston Docks was closed by police due to a crash.

Emergency services were on the scene at Riversway on the eastbound stretch.

The road – the A583 – was shut between the Edith Rigby Way roundabout and the Pedders Lane crossroads.

It remained open in the westbound direction.

The crash took place around 7pm on Saturday (16 November). Police reopened around 1am on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said:” We anticipate that the road will be closed for some time.

“In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they attended and cut one person free from a vehicle. Crews were on the scene for around an hour-and-a-half.

Blog Preston has been told by police the crash is a ‘minor injury collision’.
