The M6 will remain fully closed north of Preston into tomorrow after a lorry overturned and crashed through the central reservation.
Update: One person has died, several serious injured and M6 to be shut overnight
National Highways: North West initially warned the road would be closed for several hours but that estimation has since increased.
A spokesperson for National Highways North West confirmed to Blog Preston this afternoon that the motorway would remain closed between Junction 32 and Junction 33 in both directions until around 4am on Thursday (7 November).
Lancashire Constabulary, Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, North West Ambulance Service and the air ambulance are all in attendance and there are significant delays both northbound and southbound as a result of the crash.

Blog Preston has contacted all emergency services for more information relating to the incident. The extent and seriousness of any injuries is not clear.
Traffic is diverting southbound by exiting the M6 at junction 33 and taking the A6 through Garstang and re-joining at junction 32. The northbound diversion is taking the reverse route.
A National Highways spokesperson said: “This morning’s incident involved two heavy goods vehicles and three other vehicles, with one HGV travelling northbound crossing over onto the southbound carriageway. All emergency services attended including an Air Ambulance.
“Damage was caused to the central reservation barrier due to the collision. The fire service removed a further part of the central reservation to release trapped traffic. There has also been a fuel spillage across the carriageway which requires cleaning.
“Police investigations continue at the scene with the M6 to remain closed overnight between Junction 33 (Lancaster) and Junction 32 (Preston).”
