Both the northbound and sound bound carriageways are currently closed on the M6. A lorry is understood to have overturned across both carriageways – and a number of other vehicles are involved.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had five crews on the scene working to secure it. The North West Air Ambulance confirmed they were called to the scene but said they could give no further information at this time.

Traffic England is already showing delays building back from Junction 33 (Garstang) on the northbound side running back to Junction 30. There is no access to the M6 northbound from Junction 32 with traffic being diverted off onto the A6.

And from Junction 35 (Carnforth/Lancaster) down to Junction 33 on the southbound side where traffic is being diverted off onto the A6 via Garstang.

The crash itself is close to the Junction 33 turn.
