In pictures: Armistice Day 2024 marked on Preston Flag Market

The Last Post sounded across the Flag Market as the city marked Armistice Day.

Preston’s Cenotaph was the focal point for hundreds of people to join together on Monday (11 November) morning.

A civic service and short parade took place with the Mayor of Preston councillor Phil Crowe in attendance.

Veterans also attended with standard bearers lowering the flags in front of the Cenotaph as wreaths were laid.

Preston City Council’s armed forces champion councillor Mel Close said: “Flag Market was packed yesterday for Remembrance Day and today for Armistice Day people turned up again to pay their respects.

“Thank you Preston. Massive thank you again to all involved in today’s service.”

A group of schoolchildren from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School also attended the Armistice Day service.

Parade marshal was Mr Michael Nutter, formerly of the Scots Guards with the Parish Priest of St George the Martyr Reverend David Craven leading the service.
