It’s a few weeks since Theatre Street Bar and Grill relocated from Preston city centre to The Plough at Eaves in Woodplumpton – and the owners say the move is going well so far.

Manager Alex, who opened Theatre Street 10 years ago, has returned from eight years away teaching to launch the new venture at the rural pub, which underwent a major renovation in 2021.

Alongside Alex is Front of House team Robbie and Kate, who have been with the restaurant for 10 and three years respectively, and Chef Micħal, who has spent four years in the kitchen.

Speaking to Blog Preston about the move, Alex said: “The city centre unfortunately isn’t what it used to be and we felt like we had outgrown the restaurant.

“The owner has had The Plough at Eaves for the past 18 months. We were extremely fortunate to get the opportunity to move to this beautiful country pub, where we can expand the business and offer more in terms of events and an extensive menu.

“We are five weeks in now; the feedback is great and we’ve had lots of repeat customers.”

The new menu features tapas small plates and a la carte options.

With a private room available for parties, Theatre Street Grill is also hosting regular live music and entertainment in the restaurant.

Alex said: “This past month we have had the magician Jason Rea, a local 11-year-old playing his saxophone, local singer Louise Wild, Preston lad Liam Blake and a brand new artist Ella.

“We have Christmas party nights every Friday and Saturday in December with live music, games and a disco. Plus there will be breakfast with Santa and Christmas movie morning. New Year’s Eve will see fireworks and entertainment from Louise Wild.”

Looking to the future, Alex said: “We are already using several local produce suppliers and supporting our nearby area, and we want to increase this. We would also like to extend our private functions and continue progressing the business.”

Theatre Street Grill at The Plough at Eaves is open Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm.
