Fireworks awoke many in Penwortham and Broadgate during the early hours of Monday morning.

Footage sent to Blog Preston and shared on Nextdoor for the Broadgate community showed a group of people setting off fireworks on Penwortham Old Bridge.

During a 90-second period a number of fireworks were lit and thrown on and from the bridge.

An eyewitness said: “There’s a group of people setting off fireworks on the Penwortham Old Bridge.

“It is thoughtless and unkind to people’s terrified pets.”

The incident took place between 1.10am and 1.25am on Monday (4 November).

In the footage the group of around six people can be seen watching the fireworks before moving quickly as the fireworks start to fire towards them.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging people to attend organised displays for Bonfire Night.

Blog Preston contacted Preston Police who said they had not been called out to the incident.
